Paying Attention with the Latest Technology
In this issue of Neuron, Parikh et al. utilize biosensors to probe the cholinergic system in freely moving rats performing cue-detection/reward delivery tasks. They show that cue-evoked cholinergic activity in the medial prefrontal cortex is associated with cue detection and not reward delivery. We discuss the implications of their research in behavioral neuroscience.

small satellite-based tracking system that is light enough to be carried on birds was developed in the 1980s at the Applied Physics Laboratory. A new, more capable generation is now under development that will contain, in addition to the Argos tracking platform transmitter terminal, a global positioning system receiver and a complement of advanced sensors. The sensors may include a digital audi...

1 ` ABSTRACT The international trade of endangered species-from tigers and rhinos to birds and butterflies-is second only to drug trafficking as the biggest source of illicit money worldwide. Wildlife crime syndicates operate all over Asia. As foreign as it may sound, animal theft, especially with endangered species, is quite common Our project aims at tracking animals and collecting precious d...
متن کاملLatest developments in ammonia production technology
Many Indian ammonia plants struggle with high feedstock prices. In order to survive in the competition from new plants in areas with low gas cost, many plant owners of existing plants have decided to revamp their plants to reduce the energy consumption and/or increase the capacity. New developments are needed in order to fulfil these needs of the market. This paper will highlight some of the de...
متن کاملLatest Trends in Millimeter-wave Imaging Technology
This paper overviews the latest trends of millimeterwave (MMW) imaging technologies, focusing mainly on applications of and technical parameter variations for security surveillance and nondestructive inspections (NDI). We introduce a smart NDI tool using active W-band imaging, which is capable of detecting hidden surface cracks in concrete structures.
